Expanding the Hartman Family

It was hard to imagine what our little Clark would be like when I was pregnant, but now we are getting to know him. In the first 10 days, we have already felt overwhelming love, fear, and joy.

It all started with our scheduled induction (or inducement as Jeremy likes to call it). We actually had a lot of fun between the pain.

Mom had a tough trip to Columbus, but we were excited that she was there throughout the labor and delivery. What a special time to get to share!

This is Jeremy's first diaper change. As you can see, he did not realize that Clark was getting his large feet into the nastiness. Another good laugh.

We had a great first few days at home. But, the fear set in when we got back the labs that told us that Clark was severely jaundiced. You can see it in this picture. It was bad enough that we had to get a home health company to bring us a "bili blanket" to break down the bilirubin. It is pretty incredible. It was actually pretty comfortable for him.

Martha was here during the tough days that Clark had to wear the blanket. It was great emotional and physical help. We have such great mothers!!

His bilirunib level came down, and now he sleeps much more soundly, eats better, and spends more time awake.

Jeremy and I do a pretty good job helping each other. He is a great daddy!

The Last Trimester Begins

27 weeks into pregnancy :) I will be seeing the doctor every 2 weeks from now on. Everything is going very well so far. I had convinced myself that the baby is a girl. But, at my last doctor's visit, she said "This little guy is very active. It is a boy, right? Or, a girl? Or, we don't know???" I stared at her with a blank stare through the whole exchange :)

After searching for months, we finally bought a crib.

As always, Jeremy had fun while working.

We still have a lot of work to do, but things are coming together. It won't be long until I will be spending a lot of time in this room :) Luckily, we have a very comfy chair to move up soon.

I love this picture. It seems like Olive loves the baby already. Here, she was purring so loudly that the baby had to be able to feel and hear it.
